Carbon wadding (also called carbon felt) is a type of nonwoven material made from carbon fiber or pre-oxidized fibers through processes like carding, needling, and heat treatment. It offers unique performance characteristics that make it suitable for high-tech and industrial applications.
High Temperature Resistance:
Can withstand extreme temperatures:Graphite felt (further processed): up to ~3000°C.
Carbon felt: up to ~1500°C in inert environments.
Excellent Thermal Insulation:
Low thermal conductivity; used widely as high-temperature insulation material in furnaces and reactors.
